by Philadelphia Ponos insomeone reported to joe that they witnessed one of his coaches molesting a young boy.
joe reports it to his bosses and his bosses reports it to the da.

Because they allow it. Women comprise the majority of Jehovah's Witnesses, and therefore, they wield great power. Unfortunately, they do not realize this fact.
Christ did have female disciples
Mary Magdalene is called "the apostle to the apostles" by many outside the organization. Jesus didn't choose one of his apostles to report his resurrection; he chose a mere woman, and she reported it to the disciples.

Should Joe Paterno resign over the Penn State child sex abuse scandal?
by james_woods infirst, i don't know if we have had a thread on this yet - so if this is a repost, ignore appropriately.. but i am thoroughly disgusted by this developing scandal - an assistant coach at pen state is accused of multiple, repeated, child sexual offenses.
a member of the football staff exewitnesses and incident reported it to paterno (years ago, it is reported) - and paterno reported it to the athletic director.
nothing was done, nothing was reported to the authorities.. finally, the scandal broke over the weekend.. i am deeply dissapointed with paterno - this guy was one of my football heros.

Some of the verbiage...ugh...the assistant coach heard a "slapping noise" he associated with sexual activity, noticed the shower light was on, and went to investigate. He saw the young boy with his hands on the shower wall and Sandusky having anal sex with him.
He immediately left shaken (bad move--should have helped the kid), and called his father. The next day he reported it to Paterno. Paterno reported it up the chain, but there is question as to just what he reported--'inappropriate' conduct, etc.

Ridiculous elder ideas and rules
by Juan Viejo2 inin an earlier thread, i went off topic for a moment to share excerpts from an email i received from an active sister living in the midwest usa.
she mentioned that the elders in her congregations were extremely conservative and criticized the flock for using certain colors of highlighters in their magazines.
she also reported that they were all over the sisters for wearing stylish boots or tennis shoes during the winter months.. i know that some elder groups can be very liberal, supportive and loving toward their flocks - while others are exactly opposite to the point that they become overbearing and oppressive.. what have you experienced as far as ridiculous, over-the-top rules and ideas enforced by local elders?.

One thing that is getting to be pretty clear to me is this: Paterno and the Athletic Director certainly HAD TO KNOW about Sandusky's behavior long prior to kicking him out of association with the school, and the HAD TO HAVE HAD A HAND IN COVERING IT UP.
Nothing will convince me otherwise - a terrible black mark on top of everything Paterno ever did as a longtime coach.
Here is a link to the Sandusky Grand Jury's Findings of Fact. If these actions had been committed by generic citizens and not those attached to an uber-sports program, I am sure they would have been charged with sexual abuse or failure to report a loooong time ago.
